UK's Cooperative Group Leads Industry in Use of Recycled Bottles

Evening Times (Glasgow, UK)
July 23, 2008 - The Cooperative has become the first retailer in the UK to roll out 100 percent recycled plastic bottles across its entire own-brand range of drinks.

The move will reduce CO2 emissions by 1212 tonnes and save 808 tonnes of new plastic from being made per annum--equivalent to the weight of 180 African elephants.

Debbie Robinson, of the Co-op, said, "Our members and customers told us they want to see action on packaging."
